CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Pampanga-based RW 95.1 FM has been adjudged as best provincial FM radio station all over the country in the recently concluded 24TH Golden Dove Awards initiated by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP). The award, given on April 29 at the Star Theatre in Pasay City, is the third of its kind for RW 95.1, operated by the Radio World Broadcasting Corporation, a subsidiary of the Laus Group of Companies. It received the same distinctions in the years 2007 and 2011. Fernando “Perry” Pangan, RW 95.1 FM Station Manager, said they owe the award to their listeners who have been supportive to the station since its first broadcast day on August 17, 1995. RW 95.1 FM bested five other provincial FM radio stations included among the finalists–a short-list from over 100 other FM stations operating outside Metro Manila. Among the finalists were DYBT 105.9 of Cebu; DXCT 99.5 of Davao; DWOK 97.5 Olongapo; and DXIL 103.1 Iligan. “The fact that we are competing with several other FM radio stations all over the archipelago makes this award even sweeter. We would like to share this award to our loyal listeners and advertisers by further upgrading our programming and technical capabilities for their continuous enjoyment,” Pangan said in a statement. RW 95.1 FM was established in Pampanga during the dark days of lahar inundation in the province to provide an avenue for the disgruntled Kapampangans to get the latest and most accurate information about their communities. Soon after the lahar tragedy, RW 95.1 FM rose to become one of the most respected radio stations in the province.
